Gjon MiliIn this photograph I can see a lion that looks like it is stood up like a human. The words I would use are quite confusing and it makes you think. If I had to describe this image to someone who couldn't see it I would say that there is a white light that has been moved around to create a shape of a lion with lines repeating over themselves. This image is abstract because it doesn't look like a light. In this photograph I can see a source of light. The process used to make this painting is light painting. This photograph remind me of a lion because of the top bit of the image. The lines in this image are all quite curvy and some repeat over the top of each other. The photographer has used the play of light in this image by using a long shutter speed/exposure. This image is different from real life because it is just a drawing with light. The thing that interests me most about his work is that he uses photo flashes instead of a different source of light. The part of the photograph that strikes me as most interesting is the top of the photograph because it is very busy and quite confusing. If Gjon Mili was still alive I would ask him what inspired him to start creating this type of work. The title I would give this work is 'Lion of the night', this is because the background of the image is dark and the light looks like it creates a lion. I think this photograph is about the power of lions because Gjon has made this image quite tall so it could be showing that he thinks lions are quite powerful and have a high status in the animal kingdom. If i was inside this image i would feel quite overwhelmed and that it was quite busy. What i feel doesnt work so well with this image is that the top of the image is a lot darker than the bottom part, this might have been because he started at the bottom and made his way up. I feel that other people think his work is very intriguing because the photograph is created in an obscure way.
